The Galindo family contacted me last summer to schedule a family photoshoot to include specials birthday photos of their daughter. They had just moved to Arizona from the Northwest and wanted desert photos, so we decided on Saguaro National Park. Saguaro National Park is a great southern Tucson location. It was one of my favorite places to shoot in Tucson, because of its ease of access and the abundant desert beauty there.
The day of their session was HOT, as Tucson summer are, but for this recent Pacific Northwest family, the children were not ready for the heat. We kept them in the shade as much as possible, and prioritized water breaks, but we shot for a while. The children did amazingly well despite the heat. We started with photos of mom and dad with each of the kids. Then moved to just the children, and then some couples photos of mom and dad. Next week did their sweet daughter for her birthday photos.
They brought a fantastic balloon, the size of their daughter, but frustratingly the wind did not cooperate that day. I think I took several hundred photos just to capture a few good ones as we fought with the balloon. Dad held the balloon and some Photoshoot made them work. I love how they turned out with the balloon, the sun, the saguaro, and this gorgeous little girl. I LOVE balloons and props, and these were the cutest. Every time I look at this session I smile.
The kids were still hanging in there, so I had this wonderfully patient family follow me to our second location great for sunsets. We did some more family photos, photos with both children and each parent, and a few more sunset couple’s photos for mom and dad. We shot til the sun set then b-lined for air conditioning. The Galindo family was sweet and darling, and I’m so thankful to have met them.
