Fall in the Vineyard

It’s been a long while since I blogged, sadly only twice in the last two years, and my blogged sessions are out-of-date. So I’m going to take some time to share a full session instead of a few previews on my social media. Let’s start with the {C} family. They wanted a family session to capture their family and announce their pregnancy. They requested to use the vineyard behind their house, which turned out to be magical.

It was late September, the grapes were ripe on the vines, the evening was cool, but the sun’s glow was soft and warm. Since they had two little ones, I focused on natural interactions and using our surroundings. They kissed, cuddled, and tickled. They smelled flowers, felt the soft grapes, and played chase. The family walked through the vines, the boys chased each other, and we had a fun and lively shoot. A lot of clients get hung up on the poses, everyone looking at the camera and smiling. This is not always possible with little ones.

It’s important to remember how fast they grow out of these stages. As a mom of a teenager, I look back on all the silly faces of my kiddos and the ‘not perfect’ photos, and they are my favorites. They are my favorites because those cute and silly little faces are fleeting. When clients are happy capturing the silly and not-perfect moments, it makes my heart happy. Most will look back on the imperfect session with love and fond memories of when their babies were still babies.

This session was one that made my heart happy watching the boys play and be themselves. They had fun with their parents, showed me around the vineyard, and were thoroughly at ease.
