12 Day New Baby Boy

Baby Carter graced my studio at 12 days new. This little boy was absolutely gorgeous, and slept like a dream. His mom asked for soft, muted colors, so I purchased some ridiculously soft cream jersey knit fabric to use throughout his session. We began with a cream, knit backdrop that I paired with red and cream striped pants. I added a red and cream quilted heart and was over-the-moon with the sweet results.
Next was side-sleeping pose on a textured grey backdrop using the cream wraps I had made from my fabric store purchase. I then transitioned to potato sack pose, since the cream drops were handy. Carter did great and we got numerous darling photos. After potato sack pose, I moved on to my pale green backdrop. This backdrop is one of my favorites and I use it often, because it’s so complimentary to many different baby skin tones. With this backdrop I decided to try front facing poses and the froggy. I eased him in slowly, and there was very little fuss. We accomplished both poses with beautiful results.
Since it was September I showed his mom a pumpkin hat I had and she loved it. For this setup I decided a crate pose was perfect and we set him inside on top of a fall-colored blanket. The resulting images were gorgeous. By this time in the session his older brother had arrived so next up were sibling poses. For this I used the cream wraps and nestled the boys next to one another on a fur rug. They were both so well behaved it wasn’t long before I was onto one last setup, Carter wrapped in dad’s Air Force ABU shirt. It was a huge pleasure photographing sweet baby Carter and meeting his family.
