Family Sunset Session
The McCoy Family Photos at Sabino Canyon
This past December the McCoy family contacted me with the hopes of booking a family session before the holidays. I had one available day left and scheduled them, but as luck would have it, it rained the day of our session. We rescheduled for the middle of January and were blessed with a beautiful and sunny, albeit chilly, afternoon.
The McCoy family was an absolutely fabulous family to work with. Jokes, laughs and a lot of love was shared all afternoon. Whether it’s between couples or family members, I LOVE to see affection during a session. The McCoy’s session had an abundance. Mom and dad cuddled and kissed the afternoon away while the kids lovingly teased each other and their parents.
Sabino Canyon was the location they chose for their session because of the desert landscape and the proximity to water. The nearest water was unfortunately a bit of a hike, so they decided to stay close to the parking area. To some, the base of Sabino Canyon is an abundance of angry looking cactus and brush. To me, however, it is a playground for beautiful photography backdrops.
Not only do we have the natural beauty of towering saguaros, but each type of plant creates a different visual beauty. From the large round leaves of a prickly pear to the soft golden green leaves of a mesquite tree beauty is in everything. Even the nastiest plant in the Sonoran Desert, the Jumping Cholla, creates a beautiful white glow when set in the background of a portrait.
Thankfully the McCoy family let me lead them through the desert landscape and capture their family photos. I am so thankful they chose me as their photographer, and I am thankful to have met such a wonderful family.
