Fall in the Desert
The Elicios Enjoy a Fall Afternoon at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch
This fall I had the privilege of photographing a fellow Tucson photographer and her lovely family. She chose the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch as the location for her family photos. The ranch is a beautiful place with a small lake, cottonwood trees, wooded trails, plenty of desert landscape and miles of majestic saguaros. The late October weather in Tucson this year was warm and beautiful. We had plenty of sun, a beautiful sunset and even a few leaves were starting to turn golden yellow.
The ranch was a perfect location for the children to play while I photographed everyone. We began with individual photos of each of the children, and photos of mom and dad with each child. This gave the children a chance to relax and get to know their surroundings a little better. I love having plenty of time during family sessions to enable children to do that. It helps them be more natural in front of the camera and better capture their true personality.
Although the children behaved wonderfully, it wasn’t long before the smiling and posing got old and they were ready to call it quits. This gave me the opportunity to get some couples photos of mom and dad, both by the lake and in the desert. Not from Tucson originally, I had a hard time liking the desert landscape when I first moved here. After becoming a photographer, however, the desert has become one of my favorite locations for photoshoots. Southern Arizona is also known for it’s spectacular sunsets. Combine a Tucson sunset with majestic saguaros and you get a fabulous location for any type of photograph.
We ended our session with Ashley and David cuddling and kissing in the warmth of the setting sun amidst the tall green saguaros. The romantic glow of pink and purple hues like a reflection of their love for one another. It was a beautiful finale. Thank you Ashley and David for allowing me to capture your wonderful family!
